10 years...and beyond

We've wrapped up the 10-year review of our first decade of marriage. It's weird how I feel like ten years have flown by, but at the same time, I can barely remember what it was like not to be married. Maybe that's how you know you have the right one. When marriage fits like an old glove both on Day 1 and on Day 3653, you know you've found your life partner.

After taking you all through ten years of history, I thought it would be appropriate to bring the blog back to the present. We're currently vacationing in Oregon, seeing the highlights that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, led by a few of our favorite natives. It's been a hoot so far, believe you me.

Tip: Finger mustache tattoos make for a fun party trick.
Thanks for breaking them out, SS!

It's somewhat common for us to spend our anniversary vacationing with friends, which I am totally fine with, since it's not like we have a need to escape kids or people in general. (Oh, the joys of being a DINK.) But that doesn't mean we don't take some time to express our love and appreciation for each other. In general, despite the fact that I love blogging, I'm a pretty private person when it comes to publicly expressing my opinions. However, I thought it would be appropriate to give you an excerpt of what I wrote in my anniversary card to NS yesterday:

If I could rewind time and go back ten years to 19-year-old me to see what she had envisioned for marriage over the next decade, she would never have been able to imagine or describe the love that I've experienced throughout our marriage. I remember taking the 5 Love Languages test a long time ago and discovering that I really appreciated all forms of love. Little did I know that I would marry a guy who was willing and able to express love to me in all of its complexities. You have shown me love that can only be inspired by the Creator of love, and along with it, you've shown me peace and joy, long-suffering and kindness, and all other forms of the fruit of the Spirit. I am so overwhelmed by your sweetness, that I'm often left bewildered, wondering what I did to deserve it. You make me feel so lucky everyday. I can't wait for another 10 years with you.

And that about sums it up. There's nothing more I need to say.

(A huge thank you to Rob Arthur, who spent a couple fun-packed days with all of us in Portland before continuing on to South Africa, for capturing the photos above. We miss you already, Rob, and will definitely be crashing your couch in London someday!)
