the boy bakes

I've known NS since first grade. We've been friends since 9th. We've been a couple since 12th. This July, we'll be celebrating eight years of marriage. But in the past few weeks, NS proved that you never stop learning about someone. He treated me (and several of our friends) to some of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever experienced.

When he was little, NS made his cookies famous every Christmas season when he'd bake dozens upon dozens of cookies for friends, pastors, family... probably most of our hometown. But somehow, I missed out. Until this month.

Apparently, his recent inspiration occurred during a Friday Lunch Club session at Cimboco where he couldn't stop eating their fresh chocolate chip cookies.

He came home that night in search of a chocolate chip cookie recipe. I handed him the only one I had, figuring they were all the same.

"Where's my recipe?" he asked.
Me: "Your recipe? You have a recipe?"
NS: "Of course! It's famous!"
Me: "I have no idea. You've never made them for me."
NS: "This recipe is non-negotiable. I'm calling my mom."

We got the recipe. And boy am I ever glad.

The great thing about these cookies is that NS is very particular about the process. Sure, there's a recipe. But NS reveals that he has some off-recipe touches that make these cookies amazing.

So I'll stick with photographing the process.

And eating.

He's a keeper.
