| My version of vintage Cayman. Take out the large building in the background, and this was the island 60 years ago. |
Honestly--and I've said this before--anywhere can be a paradise. When I visit my home state of Pennsylvania, I marvel at the beauty of the rolling hills and expansive corn fields and clear rivers and creeks.
When I visit England, I'm floored with the long history and centuries of tradition, not to mention the greenery of the West Country and stateliness of their "country manors".
When I visit Italy, I feel like I'm living on a movie set, surrounded by beauty and art and (best of all) sinfully delicious food.
And when I visit Israel, I'm overwhelmed by the strong sense of religion and the layers upon layers of history and culture, all somehow part of my DNA in some hard-to-measure-but-totally-tangible way.
But we live in Cayman, an arguable paradise. I often get asked, in some form or another, how long we'll stay here. My answer is always the same: We have no plans to leave. The island was an instant fit for us, and between the weather, the friendships, and the work opportunities, it's been a wonderful 2+ years on this Caribbean island.
| This might not be the most impressive photo I've ever posted on this blog, but if you know the island, you'll recognize certain red roofs in the background. |
I do love where I live!
